Bergamot is a small and sensitive citrus tree with fragrant fruit that are green/yellow in colour.
Linked in origin to Lombardy, Italy, production today is mostly limited to the Ionian Sea coastal areas of the Reggio di Calabria provence. It is widely used as a general skin tonic by the cosmetic industry and therapeutically employed to relax and restore. Our Italian oil is cold-pressed from the rind.

Fragrance notes
All the zesty brightness you would expect from a citrus but with a unique floral presence and a tart, spicy edge.

Blends well with: Sandalwood, Rose, Petitgrain and Lemon.
History
Originally from South East Asia, it was first recorded in 1715 being sold as a fragrance in the city of Bergamot in Lombardy, Italy. Bergamot was historically used in natural medicine to treat fever and worms, and then as a scent for the body. Over time Bergamot has come to be appreciated for supporting states of composure and clarity.
Bergamot's tonic qualities have been applied extensively in the cosmetics industry to soaps, lotions and creams.

Uses
Composure and relaxation
Add 3-5 drops to your diffuser for your direct surroundings.

Deodorant
Add 15 drops of Bergamot and 10 drops of Lemon to 25mls of Jojoba oil or 50gm of Aloe Vera gel. Apply under the arms after a shower. Repeat as required.

Stress
Add 5 drops of Bergamot and 5 drops of Lemon to a diffuser. Repeat as required.
Safety considerations
Citrus oils are slightly photo-toxic so avoid sunlight after application to the skin. May cause irritation to sensitive skin. Should not be used by people with citrus allergies. May irritate skin if used in the bath or in combination with hot water. Safe to use with other medication when necessary. If accidentially ingested do not induce vomiting, follow with Olive oil or milk and seek advice from a health specialist. Avoid eyes, flush with water. Keep out of reach of children.
