Stretchmarks
What are they?
Stretchmarks (striae) are thin, streaky scars that occur when the skin stretches or shrinks rapidly. They most commonly occur during puberty or pregnancy when the body goes through hormonal changes. Stretchmarks can also appear after weight gain and be caused by some medications. They usually appear on the stomach, thighs, breasts, buttocks, and upper arms. When they first become visible, they are red in colour but fade to silvery white over time.
