Five to ten drops in a diffuser that uses water, or two to five millilitres of neat oil in one that does not. The number moves a little with room size and a lot with the quality of the oil.

Empty and refill a water diffuser every day, and give any diffuser a proper clean once a week with a little white vinegar or alcohol. Do those two things and a good diffuser will last years.

Only about four percent of the world's essential oil production is made to a therapeutic standard. The other ninety six percent is made for the flavour and fragrance industry. Often the same plant, and a completely different oil in the bottle.
