A small, perennial, flowering herb from the mint family that's indigenous to Cyprus, Turkey, the Mediterranean, Western Asia and the Arabian Peninsula. Growing up to 50cm in height, it's often confused with Oregano (Origanum compactum) and Spanish Marjoram (Thymus mastichina). Marjoram French was known to the ancient Greeks and Romans as a symbol of happiness. It is used therapeutically to bring balance, soothe digestion and ease tension.

History
Historically, Marjoram French was given to newlyweds as a token of good fortune. The Greeks used it widely for medicinal purposes and in perfumes. Greek women used oil infused with Marjoram French on their heads as a relaxant. In the 16th century Europe it was spread on the floor of rooms to mask unpleasant smells. It is believed to be good for balancing emotions, comforting for the nervous system and helpful for anxiety. It has been used therapeutically to soothe the digestive system, ease headaches and treat insomnia.

Uses
Blood pressure support
Add 3-5 drops to a nightly bath. Therapeutic baths should not exceed 15 minutes.
Add 1-2 drops to pulse points. Always consult a health specialist.

Sleep and relaxation
Add 5 drops to a carrier oil of your choice for massage, or to a diffuser while sleeping. Blend with 3 drops Lavender True and 2 drops Chamomile Roman to enhance the effect. Repeat as required.

Promote composure
Add 5 drops to a diffuser. This fragrance can be enhanced by adding a few drops each of Lavender True and Orange Sweet.

Migraine support
Dilute 3 drops with 3 drops of Lavender True and 3 drops of Peppermint in a carrier oil and apply to the back of the neck and temples. Repeat as required.
Safety considerations
NOT suitable for use during pregnancy. Do not confuse with Spanish Marjoram. Safe to use with other medication when necessary. If accidentally ingested do not induce vomiting, follow with olive oil or milk and seek advice from a health specialist. Avoid contact with eyes - flush with water. Keep out of reach of children.
