This Pine is an evergreen coniferous tree growing up to 35 metres tall. A hardy tree that prefers to grow in sandy or rocky soils, they can live for up to 300 years. It is highly valued for its antiseptic properties and its ability to support the respiratory system.

History
Extracted from the Scotch Pine tree this oil has a fresh, forest smell. It was used by the Native Americans to prevent scurvy while the needles of the tree were stuffed into mattresses to repel lice and fleas. It is also a very decorative tree and is well used in many countries as a Christmas tree. The invigorating properties of the oil give rise to its reputation as a stimulant tonic. The oil is often combined with Eucalyptus to help combat winter ailments. It is reported to have strong antiseptic, antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial properties.

Uses
Throat and lung congestion
Add 10 drops to 1 ml of Sweet Almond oil and rub into the chest and back before sleep. Can be applied up to three times daily. May be fortified by adding 5 drops of Eucalyptus Australiana oil.

Chest congestion
Add 5 drops to 1/2 tsp of Untouched Body Hydration and rub onto the sternum and throat, or add 2-3 drops to a steam inhalation. May be fortified by adding 5 drops of Eucalyptus Australiana Oil.

Energy booster
Add 10 drops to your diffuser. Add 5 drops each of Rosemary Cineol and Spearmint to enhance the effect and fragrance. Repeat as required.

Home freshener
Add 10-20 drops to a diffuser, refresh 3-5 times a day for at least 7 days. Can be blended with Eucalyptus or Citrus oils in equal parts.
Safety considerations
May be irritating to asthmatics. Safe to use with other medication when necessary. If accidentally ingested do not induce vomiting, follow with olive oil or milk and seek advice from a health specialist. Avoid contact with eyes - flush with water. Keep out of reach of children.
