An aromatic perennial evergreen herb in the mint family indigenous to the Mediterranean region. While it's known mostly as a garden ornamental and culinary herb, Thyme's medicinal reputation and history is also considerable. It is popular in the middle east as a tea and is packed with antioxidants, minerals and vitamins, especially Vitamin C. It has been used for a range of respiratory conditions and is beneficial in fighting viral, bacterial and fungal conditions. Its aroma is popular in the elevation of mood.

History
Thyme has been a popular herb for centuries. The ancient Egyptians used it when embalming and the ancient Greeks burnt it as incense in their temples, believing that Thyme was a source of courage. The Romans used it to purify their rooms and in the Middle Ages it was placed beneath pillows to aid sleep and to ward off nightmares. Knights were given Thyme to promote courage as they went into battle. The essential oil has been widely used for its antiseptic, antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial properties. Thyme has been sited as useful for colds, coughs and respiratory conditions.

Uses
Immune support
Take one hot bath a week with 1 cup of Epsom salts and 8 drops of Thyme Thymol. Therapeutic baths should not exceed 15 minutes.

Winter ailments
Add 3 drops and 1 drop of Peppermint to steam inhalation, three times a day. Or 8 drops added into the evening bath. Therapeutic baths should not exceed 15 minutes.

Purified environment
Add 8 drops to a diffuser. Add an additional 10 drops of Eucalyptus Australiana to enhance the scent and effectiveness.

Enhance resolve
Add 5 drops to a diffuser. Add an additional 5 drops of Frankincence and 5 drops of Lemon to enhance the scent and effectiveness.
Allergies - Congestion (Adults)
Blend 1 drop with 1 drop each of Eucalyptus Australiana and Lavender Spike, rub the mixture onto the palms of your hands. Cup your hands around your nose and breathe deeply. Repeat as needed up to 6 times a day.
Add 1 drop each of Lavender Spike, Eucalyptus Australiana, Peppermint, Thyme Thymol, and Immortella to a bowl of hot water. Create a tent with a towel over your head and inhale the vapours. Repeat up to three times a day.
Safety considerations
Thyme may be irritating to sensitive skin. Safe to use with other medication when necessary. If accidentally ingested do not induce vomiting, follow with olive oil or milk and seek advice from a health specialist. Avoid contact with eyes - flush with water. Keep out of reach of children.
