Also known as the cananga tree, Ylang Ylang is a tropical tree that is native to India. It's a fast growing tree reaching heights of up to 12 metres and its signature yellow blossoms are prized for their potent fragrance. Cananga odorata formagenuina is an ingredient in the world renowned Chanel No. 5. It has a long history for its use as an aphrodisiac and in the lowering of high blood pressure. It has also been used to reduce stress and anxiety.

History
The name comes from the Tagalog word ilang, meaning wilderness - where the plant is found. In Malayan, Ylang Ylang translates to flowers of flowers. Ylang Ylang oil has long been celebrated for its reputation to arouse, entice and excite. Asian women have used it for centuries as an aphrodisiac and a tonic to maintain long, healthy and shiny hair. Indonesian newlyweds traditionally place it on the marriage bed. The uplifting properties of Ylang Ylang have been used to help ease tension, stress and anxiety. It is also believed to be helpful for menstrual disorders and has been promoted as an effective relaxant useful in the management of depression and heart palpitations.

Uses
Positivity booster
Add 3-5 drops to a diffuser or bath. Therapeutic baths should not exceed 15 minutes.

Libido stimulant
Add 5 drops to a diffuser, the bath or massage oil. It is important to use the recommended amount for this purpose. A few drops can stimulate libido, however too much will promote relaxation and sleep. Therapeutic baths should not exceed 15 minutes.

Heart palpatations
Blend 2 drops into 1 ml of Sweet Almond oil and massage over the heart region before sleep.
