Toxic particles enter our bloodstream and body tissues daily through the air we breathe, the drinks we drink, the foods we eat, the perfumes we wear, soaps we wash with, medicines we take.
Our body deals with natural toxins too, such as excess hormones and yeast, or undigested food.
All this can accumulate and over-burden the body systems that work to keep us healthy.
Conditions associated with toxicity
- Auto immune disease
- Chronic sickness
- Chronic fatigue
- Anxiety and depression
- Cancer
- Low immunity
The body already has sophisticated systems to identify and eliminate harmful substances but because modern living has become so toxic we need to enhance those key systems and nurture their optimum healthy function.
Digestion, Liver and Kidney function, Blood and Lymph circulation - these are the main areas to consider.
It is important to:
- Drink lots of pure water
- Eat lots of fresh fruit and veg
- Avoid processed and sugared foods
- Avoid saturated fats and cholesterol
- Eat lots of fiber, and consider also white Argyle clay to enhance the elimination processes.
Plant Oils offer greater detox potential
If we are serious about maintaining good health then what we use on our skin - whether it be for massage or general skincare - is just as important as what we eat.
Pure plant oils - virgin carrier oils and medicinal-grade organic essential oils - provide the perfect solution. For moisturising, cleansing, rejuvenating, nourishing, stimulating, soothing and replenishing, these are naturally compatible extracts packed with active molecular compounds that are easily absorbed into the skin to serve a whole host of nutrient and protective needs.
By virtue of being uncontaminated organic plant extracts, they carry highly evolved defenses and compounds that can be easily assimilated by the omnivore body for its own benefit.
Massage with therapeutic skincare - a hands on approach to detoxification
When we combine pure organic plant oils with massage to encourage tissue detoxification, the benefits are increased and nurtured for a more lasting effect.
Apart from specialist pressure work focused on the liver and kidneys, massage can do much to aid the main waste-organs through enhancement of the supporting systems we are looking at improving.
CIRCULATION
Massage can improve circulation and thus boost the essential transfer of nutrients to body tissue, as well as the venous return which is an important transport for toxin elimination.
Practitioners use circular stroking movements (effleurage) and deeper kneading techniques (petrissage) to help pump blood around the body.
LYMPH FLOW
As a primary player in the body's waste removal systems, the lymphatic system is key to ensuring efficient filtration and elimination of toxins from the body.
Surface massage strokes can mobilise lymph fluid, not only to clean up body systems but also to improve nutrient transport, and help neutralise toxins as immune cells are carried with the movement.
Practitioners use general strokes and intermittent pressure techniques to push lymph fluid around the body's valve-pressure delivery system.
RESPIRATION
Breathing is not only about receiving oxygen and powering healthy circulation. As we expel air we are also ending a cycle of cleansing and eliminating gaseous toxins.
Massage around the associated muscles can be helpful in encouraging full movement in the rib cage and promoting deep effective breaths.
Organic carrier oils and essential oils for detox massage and advanced body care
When you look at the specific benefits in the plant oils below, it becomes clear why they can work so effectively with a detox massage and for high level body maintenance.
They bring intense nutrient value combined with qualities that support circulatory health, fluid transport, and immune activity.
And we shouldn't forget of course that an important exit route for toxic waste is via the skin - through such things as sweating, rashes and pimples - so their inherent cleansing and antibacterial properties are especially pertinent for keeping pores clear and active as they should be.
10 day tissue detox and skin conditioning booster
Post morning shower for a dynamic health day :
Add 6 drops Grapefruit oil, 2 Juniper oil, 2 Fennel oil to a loofa or face cloth and massage all over damp body, following the lymph system flow.
Night-time cleansing enhancement:
Add above blend to 3ml Argan oil and 4ml Jojoba oil for self massage to whole body, prior to bedtime.
Also massage 2 drops Eucalyptus oil to the soles of your feet.
And diffuse 3-5 drops Eucalyptus oil in the bedroom to promote deep restorative breathing.
Note: Mobilising toxins stored in body fat can initially increase fatigue, mood swings and listlessness, if you begin your 10 day effort and feel overly tired, allow a few days of rest before continuing. Eat lots of natural fiber, drink lots of pure water and exercise well in order to fully support the elimination processes.
Love your oils and know the reason why
Argan Oil (certified organic)
Packed with essential nutrients that power cell health, Argan also brings antioxidant and free-radical scavenging properties that are not only good for anti-aging but also impact on immune protection and thus detoxification processes.
It contains further detox-boosting compounds and others that promote healthy circulation, fluid transport and anti-bacterial cleansing. It also nourishes the skin in such a way as to fortify its natural barrier function and is absorbed quickly to transport nutrients to deeper body tissues.
Castor Oil (certified organic) Ricinus communis
Nutritional and hydrating, castor oil is a skin-wellness oil that is also therapeutic on painful joints (often a sign of toxic build-up). It has anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties and is specifically stimulant on the immune and lymphatic systems.
Juniper Berry (certified organic) Juniperus communis
Juniper essential oil brings a host of potent actions to support body cleansing and general health. It is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. It promotes healthy circulation and natural sweating and can be used locally to the liver and kidneys to promote blood purification and urine efficiency.
Fennel Sweet (certified organic) Foeniculum vulgare dulce
With a range of cleansing effects Fennel is a great addition to detox massage. Antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties make it good for general skin/tissue health but it is the natural diuretic and lymphatic decongestant qualities that specifically aid the body in eliminating toxins and stagnant fluids. It will help boost circulation and is tonic on the kidneys too.
Eucalyptus Blue Gum (cert organic) Eucalyptus globulus
With anti-oxidant, anti-germ, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and cleansing effects among its numerous properties, this pure essential oil is already more than relevant to fortify the body for a more efficient clean up. It is also arguably the single most powerful respiratory oil with a therapeutic aroma that will help to deepen and enhance healthy breathing, plus tonic and relaxing on muscles.
Grapefruit (certified organic) Citrus paradisii
Grapefruit is the paradise citrus. Rather than the power blast of lime or lemon, it brings a gentler zing and its own combination of dynamic action molecules. With anti-viral and antiseptic effect, it is still a baseline body fortifier, plus it has a particular synergy of diuretic and astringent properties that directly support kidney cleansing and effective circulation.
It is a great one for toning and conditioning the skin and mobilising sluggish, fatty tissue areas for more comprehensive detoxification. It brings also an uplifting aroma that promotes positivity to complement its general tonic effect on body systems.
