PUTTING HEALTH AND SELF-LOVE BACK INTO THE CULTURAL MESSAGE OF BEAUTY
A few years back, I ran a workshop geared towards mothers and daughters. The idea was simply to put health and self-love back into the cultural message of beauty by inviting women to practice healthful personal care and educate the younger generation on how pure organic ingredients hold the key to authentic skincare.
I mention it now because I recently bumped into one of the daughters that attended. She greeted me so warmly and enthusiastically, making a point to thank me again for the wonderful experience she still remembered. I was left with a lovely warm glow and a sense of actually having done something quite important.
The original workshop involved using some core facial ingredients and learning how to blend essential oils according to individual skin types and preferences. I had a vision of helping women to bond across generations and of making the learning meaningful and memorable.
In their own small way this is what the workshop achieved. I remember meeting some wonderful families and enjoyed immensely, as I always do, the pleasure of introducing new people to the feeling of great skin that pure organic ingredients deliver.
Mother and daughter natural beauty recipes
In times where the media is bombarding girls with images of painted youth and synthetic beauty, it feels good to know that I was able to help at least one young woman. This experience gave her a sense of her greater natural beauty through self-nurture and a loving relationship with her mother. (Her mother chose the workshop for both of them).
Today, I want to offer what I hope will be the first of a series of mother/daughter natural beauty recipes. This is my way of continuing the invitation for mothers and daughters to share in a more healthful beauty education.
