History
There are approximately 700 varieties of geranium, although only 10 provide the valuable essential oil. In England, it was a tradition to grow geraniums outside the home to keep evil spirits away. The light citrus aroma is said to renew energy and provide calm. It has been promoted for its cleansing and antiseptic properties and to support natural hormone balance in menopausal women. Geranium is widely used to promote healthy skin and soothe topical irritations.
