Helichrysum italicum

A woody, flowering daisy native to the Mediterranean. It is sometimes called the curry plant because of the strong smell of its leaves. Other common names include Italian strawflower and Immortelle. It grows to a height of 60cm and prefers dry, rocky or sandy soil. It is used widely for its anti-histamine and anti-inflammatory properties. The regenerative and antioxidant qualities of this plant make it popular in the support of aging skin.
Fragrance notes
An aroma reminiscent of maple syrup or burnt sugar, with a hint of smoked wood and tobacco.

Blending notes
Blends well with: Sandalwood, Rose, Frankincense and Orange Sweet.
The historical reputation for this plant lies in its name – a preserver of life. In the adventures of Ulysses, the hero is given a vial of essential Immortelle oil in order to hasten his recovery when shipwrecked on the island of Phaecia. It is traditionally known as Immortelle due to its preserving action on the skin. In European herbalism, preparations were made to treat respiratory conditions. It has been found to have potent anti-inflammatory and anti-histamine properties and is used to treat allergies.
